How To Login To Netgear Router

Router Login

Many users often find themselves in this situation. You or someone else have set up your WiFi network with a Netgear router, and you have forgotten the IP address of the router itself. Or you have reset the router for some reason and now you need to login to the router to set it up again, but you don’t know the IP address of your router that has been given a fresh factory reset.

One of the easiest way to find your Netgear router and be able to login to its admin panel without knowing its actual IP address id to type the following URL in s browser when you are connected to the router:

www.routerlogin.net

Usually these steps will take you to the router’s login page where you can provide your admin credentials to login and make necessary changes. If you did not change the router’s default login credentials, which many of us actually do not, you can find the default login credentials below in the article.

However, if for some reason the above doesn’t work, or you prefer to use the IP address of your Netgear router directly to access it, try putting in these IP address in the browser. If the first one doesn’t work, try the next one.

192.168.1.1

192.168.100.1

If you are trying to reach your Netgear Range Extender, you may try the following URL, after ensuring your range extender is connected to your network.

https://www.mywifiext.net/

or use this IP below

Default Username and Password for Netgear router is usually this:

Username: admin
Password: password

In a very few Netgear devices, you may need to try the following

Username: superuser
Password: admin

With the above information, you should be able to login to any Netgear router and set it up. Once you have logged in to your router, for security reasons it is wise the change the default admin credentials. Let us show you how to do that as well.

How do I change the admin password on my NETGEAR router?

When you buy a new NETGEAR router, it is configured with factory default settings. When you use the local web address www.routerlogin.com to access your router’s web interface, the user name is admin and the default password is password. To improve the security of your network, change the default password.

Note: The admin password is not the password that you use to access your WiFi.

To change the admin password on your NETGEAR router:

  1. Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your router’s network.
  2. Type http://routerlogin.net into your web browser’s address bar.
  3. Click Enter or tap Search.
    A login window displays.
  4. Enter the router user name and password.
Note: The user name is admin and the default password is password.
    The BASIC Home page displays.
  5. Select ADVANCED > Administration > Set Password.
  6. Type the old password, and type the new password twice.
  7. To recover your password in the future, select Enable Password Recovery.
  8. Click Apply.
    Your settings are saved.

The above information is generally applicable for all Netgear routers and extenders including NightHawk gaming routers and Orbi mesh routers. The above can also be used to setup Netgear routers that use Netgear Genie app to be managed. If you need further support, you can visit Netgear knowledgebase at https://kb.netgear.com/
